Abstract

Netrophyls in white blood cells is functioned to fight bacteria, the inflammatory process, and it is the first cell that occurs when infection happens. Lymphocytes are cells used as part of the immune system. The neutrophyl lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is one sign of inflammation. This study aims to determine whether or not the association of NLR with PCT levels in septic patients existed. This research used observational analytic research design with cross sectional approach. Using secondary data, the number of subjects was 53 patients with sepsis. This research was conducted from April to June 2018 at Moewardi Hospital in Surakarta. Kolmogorov-smirnov statical analysis was employed to test the normality and Pearson Product moment correlation used to find out the correlation, with the significance of p<0,05. The results of the study revealed that the mean of±SD PCT was 28,8±15 and NLR was 14,1±47. Pearson correlation test results showed that r=0,354 and p=0,009. Thus it can be concluded that there is a positive, weak and significance correlation between NLR and PCT levels in septic patients, if PCT levels increase, NRL will tend to increase as well. Further investigation with different biomarker of sepsis like eosinophil-leukocyte ratio and CRP. Keywords: Sepsis, Neutrophyl-Lymphocyte Ratio and Procalcitonin Level.
