Abstract
Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifollius) leaves is traditional medicinal plants have one benefits for DM treatment. Combination of antidiabetes drugs provide sinergist effect to reduce blood glucose levels. This research aimed to find out of hyperglycemi effect from combination of yacon leaves etanol 70% extractpioglitazon. Find out the effective dose and decrease blood glucose levels profile in administer yacon leaves extract compare with syntetic insulin induced in hyperglycemi Balb/C mice. Animals test have hyperglycemi condition after induced by aloxan. Grouped into 6 groups and each group diviced into 5 groups of mice. Group I CMC 0,5%, group II syntetic insulin, group III pioglitazon (0,039 mg/20 g mice wight), group IV yacon leaves extract (16,8 mg/20 g mice weight), group V combination between yacon leaves extract 50%-pioglitazon 50% (8,4 mg/20 g mice wight : 0,0195 mg/20 g mice weight), group VI combination yacon leaves extract 75%-pioglitazon 25% ( 12,6 mg/20 g mice weight : 0,0095 mg/20 g mice weigt). Treatment was done during 14 days with intervals of measurement blood glucose levels every 7 days and than it was analyzed statistically with one way ANOVA or kruskal-Wallis and than Mann-whitney. The result show that combinations of yacon leaves extract give better effect than two others. Combination dose of yacon leaves is effective dose to reduce blood glucose levels. Yacon leaves extract have not different significant if compared with syntetic insulin administered which every two days, show in decreasse glucose blood levels induced in hyperglycemi Balb/C mice.
