Abstract
Mundu’s bark (Garcinia dulcis Kurz)is a medicinal plant that contais flavonid, tannin, saponin, polyphenol, xanthon. From the compaunds which containedin mundu’s bark, that have high antioxidant activity is xanthon. This study was conducted to determine the effect of ethanol extract of mundu’s stem bark to reduce ALT level and the dose that the most effective give hepatoprotector effect. Extraction method used in this research was maceration using ethanol 70% solvent. This study was used twenty mice divided into 5 groups consisting 6 mice. All treatment groups induced isoniacid and rifampicin. Group I as negative control group was given CMC 1%, group II as positive control was given methicol®12,6 mg/200 g BW. Group III, IV, V as treatment groups of test solution of mundu stem bark ethanol extract 90 mg/200 g BW, 180 mg/200 g BW, and 216 mg/200 g BW for 28 days, respectively. All groups at 0 and 8 days were determined ALT level. Then the results obtained were analysed by ANOVA test and post hoc test meneanalysed by Tukey HSDA. The results showed that administration of mundu’s stem bark ethanol extract had hepatoprotector effect which could reduce ALT level in male white mice after induced isoniacid and rifampicin as well as the most effective dose in reduce process of ALT level was dose 216 mg/200 g BW.
