Abstract

Hypertensive treatment is a long-term one requiring the hypertensive patient to undertake continuously treatment. The patient’s therapeutic success depends on the patient’s compliance with hypertensive therapy. Patient incompliance in undertaking treatment will lead to expensive treatment cost. This research aimed to find out a description on antihypertensive treatment, on the compliance of hypertensive patient, on the average treatment cost, and on the relationship between compliance, characteristic, and cost. This study used a cohort retrospective research design aiming to find out the hypertensive outpatient treatment cost in Karanganyar Local General Hospital. The subject of research was hypertensive outpatients constituting the participants of Askes (Health Insurance) in Karanganyar Local General Hospital, in 2011- 2013. The data was analyzed descriptively including patient characteristics, description of compliance, and average treatment cost. The Chi-square test was conducted top find out the factors affecting the compliance, while the correlation test was carried out to analyze the relationship of patient characteristics and patient compliance to the average treatment cost. The result of research showed that antihypertensive drugs used widely were combination Captopril-HCT class about 56 (19,11%) compared with other medications; the compliance of outpatients constituting the participants of health insurance in Karanganyar Local General Hospital suggested that about 164 patients were complied with and 129 patients were not complied with; the average treatment cost of hypertensive outpatients constituting the participants of health insurance was higher in non-complied patients of IDR 520,526 than in complied patients of IDR 256,696. There not was a relationship of karakteristic, compliance and drug number to the cost. Keywords: compliance, hypertension, cost, Local General Hospital.
