Abstract

Inflammation is a localized tissue reaction to infection or injury and involves more mediators. The use of traditional medicine should be used to minimize the side effects of non steroidal antiinflammatory drugs, such as the use of avocado leaves (Persea americana Mill.). This study aims to determine the antiinflammatory activity of avocado leaf extract obtained by maceration method. This study was an experimental study divided into 5 groups: positive control (Potassium Diklofenak 0.9 mg / kgBB), negative control (Na-CMC), avocado leaf dose I (11.65 mg / kgBB), dose II (23, 31 mg / kgBB) and dose III (46.62 mg / kgBW). The administration of test compounds was performed by mouth, after 30 minutes of right mouse rats induced by 1% carragenin. The results showed that avocado leaf extract has anti-inflammatory activity. From the calculation of the value of anti-inflammatory power of each treatment, the results obtained anti-inflammatory power value for dose 11.65 mg / kgBB, 23.31 mg / kgBB and 46.62 mg / kgBB of 26.04%, 35.02% and 40.61 %. The result of ANOVA test showed that the dose of 23,31 mg / kgBB effectively did not differ significantly with diclofenac sodium. Keywords: Avocado leaf, anti-inflammatory, karagenin.
