Abstract

There are still many bilirubin examination using spectrophotometric method. The observation result showed during the handling of pre-analytical sample was less and it is still not handled well, sometime the sample is exposed to light that can affect to the test result. Examination of bilirubin with spectrophotometric method is highly influenced by exposure to light, because the bilirubin in blood serum can be desreased due to light exposure, especially indirect bilirubin. Research is done with the exposure of neon light displays commonly in laboratory room. This research is analytic experiment using serum sample with the criteria is more than normal bilirubin level eith variation of light exposure is 10 minutes with a total time is 60 minutes. Primary data object were statistically processed with SPSS ver 18 computer application. Indirect bilirubin measurement results by spectrophotometric is decrease of indirect bilirubin 0,24 mg/dL, or 14,64 % of the actual level within 60 minutes of light exposure, measurements were performed with o lag time of 10 minutes exposure. The result of data analysis showed strong correlation between two variable with significance value is 0,000 < 0,05. The correlation is a negative correlatin wiyh the value is 96,6 %.
