Abstract

Caesarean section is delivery of fetus through an incision in the abdominal wall and uterus walls. this study was aimed to find out the use of antibiotics by the type, administration route, compliance dosage, frequency, and duration of use in cesarean section patients. This study was a descriptive survey with retrospective retrieval from 236 medical records of patients who received antibiotics, both prophylactic and therapeutic. The abdominal data show that the type of prophylactic antibiotics used were a third generation cephalosporin i.e ceftriaxone (96,142%) and combination of of ceftriaxone-metronidazole (3,82%). Type of antibiotic therapeutic is the most widely used first-generation cephalosporins are cefadroxil single as much as (92,8%) and a combination of cefadroxil-metronidazole is as much as (6.36%). With the intravenously administration of prophylactic antibiotics 100% and oral antibiotic therapy 100%. doses of antibiotics used had met the conformity of dose with the longest duration of usage the prophylactic antibiotics is 2 day (64,4%), and as much as 3 days of therapy (47%).
