Abstract

Brotowali stems (Tinospora crispa L. Miers) and mango leaves (Mangifera indica L.) is a natural ingredient that is widely available in nature. The stem caulis has berberin compound and mango leaves has flavonoids compounds. Both of these compounds can be used as antidiabetik. This research aims to know the effects of the granting of mango leaves and stems caulis extract to decrease blood glucose levels in mice are white males who experienced swiss strain insulin resistance due to obesity. This method uses the feed rich in fat (HFD) as induction of obesity that is given for 3 weeks. Mice are divided into 8 groups, each of 5 mice tails. Group I as normal controls were given the normal feed (non HFD), while group II-VIII given feed HFD. Material of the test given to all groups for 9 days, then his blood glucose levels were measured on day 0, 5, and 9. The Data obtained were analyzed with ANOVA (significance p<0.05). The results showed that all the combination of extracts can lower blood glucose levels significantly compared to a negative control. On day 5 all combinations extracts showed activity comparable with metformin, hypoglycemic on the 9th day of all combinations of hypoglycemic activity of the extracts showed comparable to metformin and there are real differences with the negative control.
