Abstract

Leprosy is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium leprae, and still be a health problem in Indonesia. The data indicate that leprosy still found new leprosy sufferers are estimated to come from people who are in the phase of the subclinical phase. Subclinical phase is a situation where there has been a germ enters the body and adaptive immunity process has occurred which the body has been reacting specifically against Mycobacterium leprosy, but showed no clinical symptoms of the disease. The aim of this research is to know the number of anti PGL-1 on household contact. The household is a family of the leprosy patient that have a long period contact. The ELISA (Enzym Linked Immuno-sorbent Assay) serologic test were performed on household contact, was taken 10 samples, which is obtained based on the type of leprosy and duration of contacts. The results found 4 samples (40%) were positive of leprosy subclinical. The conclusion from this study is there is no correlation between the leprosy type and contact duration with the occurrence of subclinical leprosy.
