Abstract
One of anti-hypertensive agents with strong vasodilator effect is nifepidine. Nifepidine can be formulated in tablet preparation with excipient addition. One excipient playing important role is binding material (binder). The objective of research was to determine the addition of PVP K-30 at 5%, 7.5%, and 10% that could produce the nifedipine tablet with good physical quality of tablet. This study was conducted by preparing 3 formulas of nifedipine tablet with 5%, 7.5%, and 10% concentrations of PVP K-30. The tablet was made with wet granulation. The granule produced was tested for drying shrinkage and flowing time. The physical quality test on the tablet included: weight uniformity, harshness, brittleness and destruction time. The data obtained was first compared with Farmakope Indonesia and other literature, and then was analyzed using oneway anava and SNK test at confidence level of 95%. The formula of nifedipine tablet with 5%, 7.5%, and 10% concentrations of PVP K-30 could produce the tablet with high harshness and low brittleness. The formula of nifedipine tablet with 5% concentration of PVP K-30 provided faster destruction time than other formulas. _________________________________________________________________ Keywords: Nifedipine, PVP K-30, Wet granulation.
