Abstract

Cancer is a disease that appears as a result of an abnormal and uncontrolled growth of cells of body tissues and can spread to other body parts that can cause death. The cause of cancer is the presence of genetic and environmental factors. One of the cancer treatment is chemotherapy using anticancer drugs. The purpose of this study was to analyze the use of anticancer drugs in chemotherapy patients in Dr. Moewardi hospital. This study used secondary data compiling used of anticancer drugs to observe the anticancer drug usage reports every month in UDSS (Sterile Preparations Dispensing Unit) Installation of Pharmacy Dr. Moewardi hospital starting in January-September 2013. Data were analyzed with parametric tests (one-way ANOVA). The results of the data analysis showed that commonly used anticancer drugs in chemotherapy patients: (1) paclitaxel, (2) 5fu, (3) cyclophospamid, (4) cisplatin and (5) doxorubicin. Percentage of paclitaxel increased each quarter, whereas 5fu, cisplatin cyclophospamid and the highest percentage in the second quarter. Doxorubicin decreased the percentage increase in the second quarter and the third quarter. There are significant differences percentage use of anticancer drugs every quarter.
