Abstract

Hemoglobin is the main component of red blood cells (erythrocytes), a conjugated protein that serves to transport oxygen (O₂) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). Hemoglobin into the plasma happened for their erytrocyte dectruction, which led the cell membrane broke so that hemoglobin out of the cell. Packed Red Cell component storage is stable at refrigerator temperature (4° -6°C) with CPDA for 35 days. The aim of this research was to know the difference of plasma hemoglobin level in PRC storage bag for 3rd day and 30th day. This research is cross sectional analytic observation with a total of 30 samples. The research was carried out at Karanganyar General Hospital Laboratory in Karanganyar in May-June 2018. Plasma hemoglobin examination with photoelectric method. Data were analyzed using Shapiro Wilk test and Paired sample t-test with p value <0,05 (significant) and confidence interval of 95%. The results of the study showed significant differences in plasma Hb levels in the 3rd and 30th day storage. The samples 30 on day 3 and day 30 is p = 0,600; p = 0.249.
