Abstract

Inflammation is a protective mechanism of the body to neutralize and eradicate harmful agents or infectious material at the site of injury as well as to prepare for the next state is needed for tissue repair. One of the medicinal plants used for the treatment of inflammatory / anti-inflammatory is moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera). Which has the potential to be developed into antiinflammatory drugs because it contains polyphenols, saponins, and essential oils. This study aimed to determine the anti-inflammatory effects of ethanol extract of Moringa leaves in male Wistar rats. This research uses of Moringa leaf ethanol extract obtained from the maceration method. Test animals used rats were divided into 5 different groups, the negative control group (CMC-Na suspension), 25mg/kgBB dose group, group 50mg/kgBB dose, and dose group 100mg/kgBB. Na-diclofenac was used as a positive control. Extract is given shortly after leg rats induced with 1% karagenin. The results of data was analyzed with one way anava and tukey HSD. The results showed that the ethanol extract of Moringa leaves have the ability to reduce edema. The most effective dose as an anti-inflammatory is 50 mg / kg BB. Keywords: extract moringa leaf, anti-inflammatory, karagenin
