Abstract

Hypertension is a cardiovascular disease the prevalence continues to increase along with lifestyle changes such as smoking, obesity, physical inactivity, and psychosocial stress. Hypertension is also a major risk factor for heart failure. This study aims to determine the use of antihypertensive drugs in patiens hypertension with hearth failure (ICD I11.0) inpatiens and compliance with the JNC VII and the hospital formulary at RSI Yarsis Surakarta in 2011 & 2012 using the ATC/DDD method, and determine antihypertensive drugs which include in DU90% segment. The research method was descriptive research with data collection retrospective were taken from medical records in 2011 and 2012. Data of antihypertensive usage and inpatient visit obtained from Medical Record Installation. Entire data then processed to determine the quantity of antihypertensive usagee in DDD/100 unit of inpatient day and Drug Utilization profile (DU90%). The results showed that the antihypertensive drugs that fall into the DU 90% in 2011 is furosemide, amlodipine, captopril, valsartan, spironolactone, candesartan, HCT and imidapril while in 2012 is furosemide, amlodipine, candesartan, captopril, spironolactone, imidapril and HCT. Patterns of antihypertensive medication use did not change from 2011 to 2012. The Compliance with FRS in 2011 and 2012 was 93%, while compliance with JNC VII in 2011 was 81,25% and in 2012 was 80%.
