Abstract
Hospital service indicators which related to clinical quality aspect is antibiotic selection. Antibiotic usage should be in accordance with doctor's instruction, both doses and longer treatment. If used irrational, it can lead to antibiotic resistance. The aims of this study was to determine the pattern of antibiotic usage in inpatient at Mawar II Ward of Dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta. The research was conducted to medical record of inpatients in Mawar II Ward of Dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta which had sefazolin, and seftriaxon antibiotics in October-December 2013. Data were retrospectively collected then analyzed by univariate analysis using statistical program SPSS version 17. The results showed that drugs frequently used in inpatients of Mawar II Ward of Dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta, for injection therapy were ceftriaxon as 199 patients, ranitidine as 135 patients, cefazoline as 22 patients, and ketorolac as 13 patients. While on oral therapy showed that ciprofloxacin as 172 patients, na diclofenac as 162 patients, ranitidine as 127 patients, and mefenamic acid as 22 patients. Drug usage coluld prevent infection in 214 patients, whereas 7 patients were not able prevented the occurrence of infection. The use of antibiotic dose was adjusted according to Guidelines for Diagnosis and Therapy based on Department of Health, 2011. Ceftriaxon usage as 3252 seftriaxon vials, while the cefazoline usage as 699 vials. Keywords: antibiotic, dose suitability, infection.
