Abstract

Plants leaves lime (Citrus hystrix DC) and plant basil (Ocimum sanctum L.) including traditional medicinal plants. Efficacy of the basil plant itself is used as a vegetable or salad as an appetite booster, is also useful as an antibacterial drug infection. Basil and lime leaves contains chemical compounds such as saponins, flavonoids, essential oils and tannins that inhibit the growth of antibacterial. This study aims to single ethanolic extracts for antibacterial activity and the combination of the Shigella dysentriae. Sieve method used in this research is a method of maceration with 70% ethanol. Having obtained the ethanolic extract of leaves of basil and lime leaves, and then tested the antibacterial activity against Shigella dysentriae diffusion. Ethanolic extract concentrations used were single extract 50%, 25%, 12.5%, combined ratio ½ : ½ ; ¼ : ; : ¼ , and positive control antibiotic tetracycline 2.5%. The results of this study indicate that a single basil leaf ethanolic extract had inhibition zone better than most single extract lime leaves and the combination of the Shigella dysentriae Keywords: basil, kaffir lime leaves, antibacterial, Shigella dysentriae
