Abstract

Herbal medicine is one of the powders steeping Nations cultural heritage which is till used by the people till now . Making herbal preparations that do not pay attention to sanitation and hygiene factors can cause bacterial contamination and harmful for health. This study aims to determine whether the herbal powders colds steeping who do not have either of BPOM registration number of the DepKes and circulating in Surakarta meet the requirements to perform microbiological testing . Microbiological examination conducted by the method of ALT , MPN , test pathogens include E. Coli, Salmonella sp., Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa tests. Samples were taken with random from the 10 traditional markets in Surakarta. Based on the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 661/MENKES/PER/VII/1994 on Requirements Contamination of Traditional Medicine , 5 of the 20 samples did not meet the requirements of microbiological parameters because there is bacterial contamination of mesophyll , molds and yeasts. Test results for E. Coli, Salmonella sp., Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa at 20 samples entirely negative. Keywords: Herbal powder colds, mesophyll bacteria , yeasts and molds, E.
