Abstract
The tested animal used consisted of thirty rats divided into 6 groups. Every group was given isoniazid and rifampicin at 10mg/200g BW dose, except the group VI (normal control). The first group was given the ethanolic extract of kate mas herb at 50 mg/kg BB dose. The second group was given the ethanolic extract of kate mas herb at 100 mg/kg BB dose. The third group was given the ethanolic extract of kate mas herb at 200 mg/kg BB dose. The fourth group was the positive control given curcuma at 3.6 mg/200kg BB dose. The fifth group was the negative control given isoniazid and rifampicin only. The tested preparation was administered for 27 days. The measurement of AST and ALT level was done on the day-0, -14, -21, and -28. The result obtained was analyzed using a two-way ANOVA method. The result of research showed that kate mas herb ethanolic extract had activity as hepatoprotector that could lower AST and ALT level. The most effective dose of kate mas herb ethanolic extract to lower ALT was 50 mg/kg BW.
