Abstract
Bastard cedar leaves and rosella petals each has been assessed their activity as antihiperkotesterofemia. Antihiperkolesterolemia activity in bastard cedar leaves suspected because of the tannin and mucilage, whereas the rosella petals due to anthocyanin. In this study aims to determine the effect of combination of bastard cedar leaves and rosella petals in decrease the total cholesterol level and to determine the most optimal of combinations dose in decreasing of total cholesterol levels in white mice (Rattus novergicus) who has been given a high-fat diet and PTU 0.01 %. This study used 35 male mice divided into 7 groups and each consisting of 5 mice. Group I as a normal group. Group II as hiperlolesterolemia control. Group III was given by bastard cedar of 1000 mg / kg body weight (1). Group IV was given by rosella of 500 mg / kg body weight (1). Group V was given by ethanol extract of bastard cedar leaves and rosella petals (1:1). Group VI was given ethanol extract of bastard cedar leaves and rosella petals (1 : ½). Group VII was given ethanol extract of bastard cedar leaves and rosella petals (½ : 1). Mice fed was given by a high fat diet and 0.01% PTU for 2 weeks until the hypercholesterolemia state except in the normal control. Then in the 15th day were treated orally each group up to 28th day. The results showed that the combination of ethanol extract of bastard cedar leaves of 1000 mg/kg body weight and rosella petals 500 mg/kg body weight lowers are the most optimum in decrease total cholesterol levels that equal to 162.40 mg/dL. Keywords: Bastard cedar leaves, rosella petal, male mice, the total cholesterol, ethanol extract.
