Abstract
The leaf of green tea (Camellia sinensis L) is traditional herbs which is used for Leucorrhea, sprue dermatitis, nail infection. The leaf of green tea contains saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids, and tanins. According to Koech (2013) the green tea leaves extract in concentration of 1mg/ml has antifungal activity agains Candida albicans ATCC 10231. The study was aimed to know influence of cream formulation of green tea leaves extract on the physical characteristics. The extract was obtained by infundation and dried with spray dryer. The Cream was made in two types, oil in water base (O/W) and water in oil (W/O) containing 1mg/ml extract. Cream was tested for its physical characteristics (such as viscosity, spreadability, pH) and also in vitro antifungal activity against Candida albicans. Observation for antifungal activity was done after incubation for 48 hours. The result of study indicated that W/O cream containing green tea leaves extract could be made into cream formulation. The W/O types had viscosity and Spreadability cream was better than O/W cream. Both of O/W and W/O cream had pH level of 6-7. Cream containing green tea leaves extract of O/W types had better inhibition zone agains Candida albicands than cream W/O, they were 1.36±0,057 cm and 1,3±0,1 cm, respectively. Key word: antifungal, green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis L), Cream, O/W, W/O.
