Abstract
One of the plants that are empirically efficacious as a diuretic ie water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica Forks.). The purpose of this study to determine the diuretic effect of ethyl acetate fraction of methanolic extract of water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica Forks.) In male Wistar rats. This study uses a fraction of ethyl acetate methanolic extracts obtained from water spinach soxhletasi method. Test animals used by 25 male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups, namely group I negative controls were given 0.5% CMC, positive control group II were given furosemide dose of 21.6 mg/200 g BW, group III was given a suspension fraction of ethyl acetate extract of methanolic dose of 3.83 mg/200 g BW, group IV dose of 5.75 mg/200 g BW, group V 7.66 mg/200 g BW dose. The results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction of methanolic extract of water spinach is efficacious as a diuretic. The most effective dose of a diuretic was 3.83 mg/200 g BW.
