Abstract
Antibiotics are the preference of therapy for infections. Bergman et al. discovered a synergistic effect in combination simvastatin with penicillin antibiotics to inducing autolysis in pneumococci. Purpose of this study was to determine the most optimal antibacterial activity in combination simvastatin with ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, ciprofloxacyn, imipenem, and amikacin antibiotics against Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria. This study uses diffusion method in order to make a hole in the solid gelatine that had been inoculated Klebsiella penumoaniae bacteria and filled each simvastatin concentration 15 and 150 ppmas well as the ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, ciprofloxacin, imipenem, and amikacin antibiotic each with a concentration 100 ppm to see activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria. Simvastatin with concentration of 150 ppm, showed activity by providing an average diameter inhibition of 17,3 mm. Average diameter of the inhibition in the replication of the biggest trials of antibiotics in row indicated by imipenem, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, ciprofloxacin, and amikacin with value 30,0 mm; 23,7 mm; 21,3 mm; 20,3 mm; 18,7 mm. Largest diameter in combination is shown imipenem and simvastatin 150 ppm in the amount of 33,3 mm. Oneway anova test showed a signifficant differences in the diameter of inhibition in combination of simvastatin with cefotaxime. Simvastatin combination with ciprofloxacin, ceftriaxone, imipenem, and amikacin antibiotics showed no significant difference in inhibition. Keywords : simvastatin, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, ciprofloxacin, imipenem, amikacin, diameter of inhibition.
