Abstract

The combined isoniazid and rifampizin medicines used in long term can lead to liver damage. Kate mas herb is used as hepatoprotector because it contains flavonoid with antioxidant activity that can ward off free radical. This research aimed to find out the effect of kate mas herb ethanolic extract in lowering the serum billirubin level in Wistar White Rat induced with isoniazid and rifampicin. The tested animal used consisted of thirty rats divided into 6 groups. Every group was given isoniazid and rifampicin at 10 mg/200 g rat BW dose, except the K6. K5 was given only isoniazid and rifampicin. K4 was given Curcuma® at 3,6 mg/200 g rat BW dose. K1 was given kate mas herb at 50 mg/kg rat BW dose. K2 was given was given kate mas herb at 100 mg/kg rat BW dose. K3 was given kate mas herb at 200 mg/kg rat BW dose The tested preparation was administered for 28 days, and the measurement of serum bilirubin level was done on the day-0, -14, -21, and -28. The result obtained was analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD methods. The result of research showed that kate mas herb ethanolic extract had activity as hepatoprotector that could lower serum bilirubin level, with the most effective dose of 50 mg/kg BW.
