Abstract

Kepel (stelechocarpus burahol) leaves is the plants used as traditional medicine that contain coumpond flavonoids, polyphenols and tanin. This study aim to determine the activity of ethanolic fraction of Kepel leaves on levels of total serum bilirubin in wistar rats paracetamol induced. This study test thirty rats were divided into 6 groups, each consisting of 5 rats. Group I as a normal control. Group II as positive controls were given curcuma 7,2 mg/200g BW and paracetamol. Group III as negative controls were given paracetamol. Group IV, V and VI as treatment group was given paracetamol, ethanolic fraction 6 mg/200g BW, 12 mg/200g BW, and 18 mg/200g BW for 7 day. Giving paracetamol 500mg/200g BW dose on day 5 except normal controls. All groups at day 0, 5th and 6th set of total serum bilirubin levels. Results were analyzed by One Way ANOVA test was continued Tukey HSD test. The results that all treatment groups have kepel leaves ethanolic fractions in inhibiting the activity of serum bilirubin levels for exposure to toxic doses of paracetamol. Ethanolic fraction doses kepel leaves the most effective as inhibitors of serum bilirubin rats levels for exposure to the toxic dose of paracetamol induced is 18 mg/200g BW.
