Abstract
Macrophage is the one of components non specific immune system which plays role important in seluler immune mechanism. Chemical compound of black tea (Camellia sinensis ) is theaflavin that may can used to enchance the body’s immune. This study aims to determine the effect of giving black tea (Camellia sinensis L.var.assamica) steeping and the most effective dose to the activity and capacity of phagocyte macrophage in Balb/c mice induced hepatitis B vaccine. The extraction method was using is the black tea brewed with distillation water in 100o C for 2,5 hours. The variety of dosages of the steeping black tea is 600 mg/kgBB, 1200 mg/kgBB dan 2400 mg/kgBB. Control positif is used stimuno® and control negatif used water distillation. These were administered orally on day 1 until 28 and induced by hepatitis B vaccine (Engerix B) at 7th and 14th intraperitoneally. The activity of macrophage evaluate by amount macrophage that phagocyte from 100 macrophage. The phagocytosis capacity evaluate by amount of latex that phagocyte by 50 active macrophage. The result showed that black tea steeping has the effect by increasing activity and capacity of macrophage phagocyte in Balb/c mice induced hepatitis B vaccine. The research results showed that the steeping of black tea has effect to increased macrophage phagocyte. Steeping of black tea (Camellia sinensis L.var.assamica) could affect to increased macrophage phagocyte in Balb/c mice induced hepatitis B vaccine maximally at the dose of 1200 mg/kgBW. Key words : macrophage, black tea (Camellia sinensis L.var.assamica), phagocyte activity, phagocyte capacity,
