Abstract

Worm infection is a health problem caused by worm infection in the human body. The infection is caused by intestinal nematodes of the Soil transmitted helminthes group : Ascaris lumbricoides, Hookworm, Strongiloides stercoralis, Trichuris trichiura and non Soil transmitted helminths are Oxyuris vermicularis. Transmission of the worm disease can be through the soil in direct contact, for example the hand touches the contaminated soil of the infective worm egg while eating, so the eggs come into the intestine and hatch into larvae. he purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of ornamental plants in Surakarta infected by intestinal nematodes in faeces and feces samples. Examination of eggs and larvae of intestinal nematodes using 20 samples of feces and 20 samples of nail droppings on the sellers of ornamental plants in Nongko Market (Kelurahan Mangkubumen) and Purwosari Village. The study was conducted at the Setia Budi University Parasitology Laboratory. Fecal samples were examined using direct method with lugol solution and nail excrement sample using sedimentation method with 0.25% NaOH solution. Based on the results obtained from the examination of 20 fecal samples obtained 1 positive sample there are eggs Ascaris lumbricoides (fertil) and Hookworm larvae (filariform) percentage of 5%. On examination of 20 samples of fecal manure obtained a positive sample of 1 eggs Ascaris lumbricoides (fertil) percentage of 5%.
