Abstract
Mirabilis jalapa is one of medical plants that widely used, Mirabilis jalapa root is have the effectiveness to antidiabetic. The aim of this experiment first, was to find out the effect combinations of mirabilis jalapa root ethanolic extract with metformin in decreasing blood level in male mice made hyperglycemic with induction alloxan. Second, whether combinations of mirabilis jalapa root ethanolic extract with metformin better than the single dosage of metformin in decreasing blood level in male mice made hyperglycemic with induction alloxan. The animals test were divided in six groups, each group consist of five mice. The first group was given CMC Na 0,5 %, the second group was given metformin 1,3 mg/20 g BW, the third group ethanolic extract 2,8 mg/20 g BW , the combination of the Mirabilis jalapa root ethanolic extract with metformin the dose variation as follows: the fourth group (1: 3) dose 0,7 mg/20 g BW: 0,975 mg/20 g BW, the fifth group (2 : 2) dose 1,4 mg/20 g BW : 0,65 mg/20 g BW, the six group (3 :1) dose 2,1 mg/20 g BW: 0,325 mg/20 g BW. The test substances given once a day orally during the period of 9 days, then measured blood glucose levels after treatment 3 days, 6 days, 9 days using tools glucometer. The result showed that first, was to find out the effect combinations of mirabilis jalapa with metformin root ethanolic extract in decreasing blood level in male mice made hyperglycemic with induction alloxan. Second, whether combinations of mirabilis jalapa root with metformin dose (1: 3) ethanolic extract had better than the single dosage of metformin in decreasing blood level in male mice made hyperglycemic with induction alloxan.
