Abstract
Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) is a plants that used as antidiabetic drugs. This study aimed to determine the effect and the most effective dose for the infuse combination of bean and aloe vera leaves in give the effect of decreasing blood glucose levels in male mice alloxan induced. The research was conducted with a using 35 male white mice, strain Balb/c, age 3-4 months, weight 15-30 grams. The mice were made diabetic using alloxan intraperitonial. All the mice were divided into 7 groups, each group consisted of 5 mice. Group I: negative control, group II: positive control (glibenclamide), group III: bean infuse (12mg/20 g bb), group IV: aloe vera leaves infuse (312 mg/20 g bb), 3 group infuse combination of bean and aloe vera leaves (3 mg/20 g bb:234 mg/20 gr bb; 6 mg/20 g bb:156 mg/20 g bb; 9 mg/20 g bb: 78 mg/20 g bb). Glucose levels be measure on day 3, 6, and 9, with Easy-Touch glukotest. The result of blood sugar levels were analyzed by one way ANOVA (p<0.05) continued with Post Hoc test. The result showed a infuse combination of bean and aloe vera in all treatment group were able to decrease blood glucose levels comparable to glibenklamide (p<0.05). The infuse combination of beans and bitter melon (9 mg/20 g bb:78 mg/20 g bb) gives the effect of decreasing blood glucose levels of the most effective compared with all treatment groups.
