Abstract

Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) is one of traditional medicinal plant containing alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, saponin and androgafolide with such pharmacological effect such as antifungi. The most dominant compound was androgafolide. Candida albicans is one of normal flora’s in human body, but its commensal property can change into pathogen due to some predisposing factors. Candida albicans can result in a disease called candidiasis. This research aimed to find out the percolate extract activity of Sambiloto leaf in inhibiting and fungisid Candida albicans growth. This research was conducted by experiment in Microbiology Laboratory of Setia Budi University. The antifungi activity testing method used was dilution one. The antifungi activity was observed by looking at the clarity and turbidity of reaction tube with 50 %; 25 %; 12,5 %; 6,25 %; 3,13 %; 1,56 %; 0,79 %; 0,40 %; 0,20 % and 0,10 %. The media used was Sabouraud Glucose Agar (SGA) added with cloramphenicol 75 ppm antibiotic and Liquid Sabouraud Glucose (LSC) medium. The percolate extract of sambiloto leaf had the activity of fungisid Candida albicans. The percolate extract of sambiloto leaf indicated Minimum Fungisid Concentration (MFC) in 12,5 % concentration.
