Abstract

Kate mas herbs is a plant that contains high antioxidants.Kate mas herbs contents are flavonoids, saponins, tannins and alkaloids. Research on the activity of the ethanol extract of kate mas herbs in increasing HDL cholesterol levels in white rats aims to determine the effective dose of ethanol extract of kate mas herbs in increasing the HDL cholesterol levels of white mice. Objects in this research are 40 white rats. All the rats are randomly divided into 8 groups then given food every day. Each group consists of 5 mice. Group I as normal control. Group II is the negative control. Group III is the positive control (simvastatin). Each of extract groups is added with ethanol extract of kate mas herbs dose of 100 mg/kg BW/day, 200 mg/kg BW/day, 400 mg/kg BW/day, 600 mg/kg BW/day, 800 mg/kg BW/day. Animals test of HDL level measured on day 0, day 7, and day 21. The results show that from all treatments, the most effective dose in increasing HDL cholesterol levels are groups with dose 100 mg/kg BB and 200 mg/kg BW that may increase HDL cholesterol levels in rats blood serum equivalent to positive group given simvastatin (0.36 mg / 200 g BW).
