Abstract

Cassava leave (Manihot utillisima Pohl.) is known contain the flavonoid, micro and macronutrient and antioxidant that suspected it has improve thrombocyte count activity throught stimulation mechanism that can trigger megacaryocyte cell manufacturing also it can strengthen the limph. The aim from this research was to observed ethanolic extract from cassava leave for increasing the thrombocyte count. In this research, the mices were divided into 7 groups with each of it has 5 mices. Group I, II and III in consecutive were normal control, negatif control was given aspirin suspention with dose 0,208 mg/ 20 g mice BW and positif contol was given guava leaves extract (PSIIDI) with dose 1,3 mg/ 20 g mice BW, whereas group IV, V, VI and VII were the test group with the variance dose of ethanolic extract in conseccutive were 0,13; 0,26; 0,39; 0,52 mg/ 20 g mice BW. This research was done in 14 days which in the 1st until 5th day was given the aspirin suspention orally (except the group I), the 7th until 13th day is given the ethanolic extract of cassava leaves ( except group I and to the group III is given the guava leaves extract). Day 0th, 6th and 14th, blood samples were taken to quantify the amount of platelet with counting chamber method using Improved Neubauer hemocytometer. The result of this research was ethanolic extract of cassava leaves was able to improve the trhombocyte count. The dose had the best effect was 0,52 mg/ 20 g mice BW. keyword: cassava leaves, ethanolic extract, flavonoid, thrombocyte
