Abstract

Leaf of hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis l.), is a folk remedy that has been used by the public as drug fever, cough, sores, ulcers, mumps, sinuitis, colitis, conjunctivitis, inflammation of the intestines. Hibiscus leaves contain flavonoids, saponins, and polyphenols.According to Sianita (2010) 70% ethanol extracts of hibiscus leaves can inhibit and MBC 0.79% , which has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureusATCC 25923. This research aims to know the effect of ethanol extracts of hibiscus leaves with different concentrations in preparations of cream or oil in water type O/W on physical properties and antibacterial power against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Extraction using a solvent ethanol method sokhletasi. Ethanol extract cream hibiscus leaves made three formulas with concentrations each of 0.79%, 1,57%, 3.13%. The resulting creams tested his physical properties include organoleptis, its homogeneity, the viscosity and the spread of power. Then to find out the effect of ethanol extracts of hibiscus leaves of physical properties by using correlation and regression analysis while the drag power using one way anova. The results showed that the larger the addition of concentrations of ethanol extracts of hibiscus leaves may increase viscosity cream, lower power spread cream, perebedaan extract concentrations lead to power differences antibacterial, where more and more antibacterial power concentrations.
