Abstract
Antioxidant is a compound that prevents the oxidation reaction by tying the free radical and the reactive molecules. The Waru Gombong leaf (Hibiscus similis BI) contains sapoin, tanin, flavonids and alcaloid. This research of flavonoids compound has purpose to recognize the antioxidant activity in n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, water fraction and ethanolic fraction towards DPPH radical through IC50 parameter to know the fraction from ethanolic extract of Waru Gombong leaf (Hibiscus similis BI) which has the highest level of antioxidant activity. The pollen of Waru Gombong leaf was macerated using Ethanol 70 %. Then the ethanol extract was fractionated using n-hexane solvent, ethyl acetate and water in order to separate the compound based on its polarity. Fraction and extract were analyzed their compound contents according to TLC. The fraction and the extract were tested their antioxidant activities towards DPPH radical using spectrophotometer tool with its phase length was 517 nm and was determined the price IC50. Rutin used as positive control in this research. The research outcome showed that n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, water fraction and ethanolic fraction have IC50 value 76,14 ppm ; 48,13 ppm ; 59,71 ppm ; 65,67 ppm.
