Abstract
Ethyl acetate extract of tuber anthill has been shown to have antibacterial effects, including on Staphylococcus aureus. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of ethyl acetate extract tuber anthill against bacterial infection Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 on the back skin of rabbits. Tuber anthill was extracted with n-hexane, and powder residue was extracted with ethyl acetate by soxhletation. Ethyl acetate extract was made cream with a base oil in water (O / W) with a concentration of 10%, 20% and 30%. The cream was applied once a day on the back of rabbits infected Staphylococcus aureus. Observations were made by observing the length of healing infection in rabbits after administration back skin cream that was characterized by loss of pus, dry wound and no colonies of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria were inoculated on media Vogel Johnson Agar (VJA). Results of this research indicate that the ethyl acetate extract of tuber anthill has the in vivo antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus in rabbits who are infected with the most effective extract concentration was 30%.
