Abstract
Typhoid fever is a disease caused by Salmonella typhi that infects the small intestine ang then spread throughout the body. The disease is transmitted through food and drink which is contaminated by Salmonella bacteria. Typhoid fever begins with symptoms of fever, headache, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, impaired consciousness, liver and spleen enlargement, so that if not treated properly, it will impact mortality. With the development of laboratory tests for the detection of typhoid fever that used Tubex TF antigen using LPS-O9 which inhibits the Salmonella typhi IgM antibodies in the blood, the examination is more specific to Salmonella typhi. This paper was composed based on the data taken from PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Surakarta in November 2012 to December 2012, and supported by publicized literature. Typhoid Fever examination by Tubex TF would give a negative result if the magnetic scale >2 and gave a positive result when the magnetic scale >4. According to the Tubex TF examination on 20 samples, 75% showed positive infected with typhoid fever, and 25% were negative, not infected with typhoid fever. Keywords: Tubex TF, Typhoid fever
