Abstract

Salmonella sp is a Gram-negative and basil bacteria. Its main habitat is the digestive tract of animals and humans. These bacteria cause Salmonellosis. Cockroach (Periplaneta Americana) is a species of cockroaches are often found in settlements in Indonesia. Cockroaches be the cause of the spread of diarrheal diseases, typhoid fever, and so forth. Sensitivity Salmonella sp to antibiotics is always changing from time to time, so it is necessary to monitor the use of antibiotics in dealing with these bacterial infections. This study aims to determine the presence of Salmonella sp on samples Cockroach housing and sensitivity to antibiotics. This study was conducted in March-April 2019. This type of research is observational with cross sectional approach. This research was conducted by finding Salmonella sp in the samples were then tested cockroach sensitivity to three antibiotics are Ampicillin, Chloramphenicol, Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole using Kirby-Bauer diffusion method. The diameter of inhibition zone on the test sensitivity compared with a table of Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). The results obtained show that the five positive samples identified housing cockroaches are Salmonella sp. Salmonella sp sensitivity test results show that there is a significant difference in each treatment to antibiotics that is 100% resistant to Ampicillin, 80% intermediate and 20% sensitive to Chloramphenicol, and 100% sensitive to Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole.
