Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from insulin deficiency, decrease the effects of insulin, or both. The case of diabetics in Indonesia still belongs to high and continue to show improvement from year to year. Type II diabetics patient occurs a variety of complications and an increase in the activity of hemostasis. Therefore vascular complications in type II diabetics are need to know. Platelet in type II diabetics has proven to be hyperreactive by increasing adhesion, activation and agregation. Increasing mean platelet volume level is associated with increasing agregation activity. Platelet distribution width is size variation of platelet in pheripheral blood. Immanute platelet has low PDW level. The aim of this study is to analyze the comparison of platelet parameters in controlled and uncontrolled type II diabetics. Observational analytic study was carried out at the Dr. Moewardi Hospital used secondary data obtained from the years 2014-2018. Purposive sampling was used in this study. Totally 332 samples (61 controlled diabetics and 271 uncontrolled dibetics) were included in this research. Statistical analysis was performed using One Sample Kolmogorof Smirnov test, Independent sample T-test, and Mann Whithney U-Test Statistical significant p-value was considered at <0.05. The results of this study showed there was no significant difference platelet parameter in controlled and uncontrolled type II diabetics. Statistically showed p-value MPV = 0.667 (> 0.05); PDW = 0.521 (> 0.05). The MPV and PDW can not be used as a predictive markers of diabetic vascular complications in controlled and uncontrolled type II diabetics. Keywords: Type II diabetics, Glycated haemoglobin, Mean platelet volume, Platelet distribution width.
