Abstract

Clinical Chemistry and Hematology examination is a screening examination package for all inpatients at the Surakarta Regional Mental Hospital (RSJD), including cholesterol and triglyceride parameters with an age requirement > 40 years. Sampling using 2 tubes namely red cap for clinical chemistry (serum) and purple cap with anticoagulant Ethylene diamine tetraacetate (EDTA) for hematology (plasma). The purpose of this study is to determine whether there are differences in the results of cholesterol and triglyceride tests between serum and EDTA plasma samples. This research was conducted at Surakarta City Hospital using Cross Sectional research design and the sampling technique was purposive sampling by taking 40 samples. The results of cholesterol normality test in serum are p = 0.285 and plasma p = 0.142. While the triglyceride normality test in serum results obtained p = 0.268 and plasma p = 0.333. Statistical analysis Paired Sample t Test for Cholesterol examination showed a significance value of 0.259 and for Triglyceride examination a significance value of 0.066 was obtained. The conclusion of this study is there is no significant difference between serum samples and plasma EDTA in the examination of cholesterol and triglycerides.
