Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is hyperglycemia caused by insensitivity to insulin. DM control can be done by HbA1c examination. Controlled DM has HbA1c level <7, while uncontrolled DM has HbA1c level ≥7. Uncontrolled DM can cause chronic complications such as diabetic nephropathy the leading cause of kidney failure. Creatinine examination is a strong indicator to evaluate kidney function. If there is a decline of kidney function it will lead to kidney secretion disorders, one of them is uric acid. The present research aimed to determine the difference of creatinine and uric acid levels of patients with controlled and uncontrolled type 2 DM. This research applied observational analytic research design using cross sectional approach. This research applied secondary data with total samples 212 data of patients with type 2 DM. The data analysis used Kolmogorov Smirnov test for normality test and the diverse test used Mann Whitney test and independent sample t test. The result of creatinine examination using Mann Whitney test obtained p value = 0.003, p<0.05 this there was a difference of creatinine level of patients with controlled and uncontrolled type 2 DM, the uric acid examination using independent sample t test obtained p value =0.079, p>0.05 therefore there was no difference of uric acid level of patients with controlled and uncontrolled type 2 DM Keywords: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, HbA1c, Creatinine, Uric Acid
