Abstract
Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is a cardiovascular disease which is the number one cause of death in the world. Obesity increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. This is related to increased triglyceride levels and decreased HDL in the blood. Cigarettes contain nicotine which can increase LDL levels. Cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide (CO) which can cause blood vessels to narrow and accelerate the process of atherosclerosis. High sensitive C-Reactive Protein (Hs-CRP) has prognostic value in patients with acute coronary syndrome, so Hs-CRP is used as a primary prevention tool. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of Hs-CRP levels in obesity and smokers as risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD). This research was conducted on 30 research subjects in the villagers of Mundu RT 04 RW 07, Selokaton, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar. This research is a comparative study with a nonprobability sampling technique that is consecutive sampling. The data in this study were processed using the One way ANOVA test, Post hoc Dunnet T3. Examination of Hs-CRP levels using the immunoturbidimetric method, results obtained with a significance value of 0.021 (p <0.05). This means that there are significant differences in Hs-CRP levels in obesity and smokers. Obese subjects with a BMI > 27 kg/m2 have a higher risk of developing CHD compared to people who smoke. Keywords: Hs-CRP, obesity, smokers, coronary heart disease.
