Abstract
One of bacteria that causes the skin disease is S. aureus. The plant that can be the antibacteria is the papaya leaves. A cleansing soap that is used to clean up the body. The optimation formula for a transparant ethanol extract with the variations of VCO and betaine are aimed to make a good, non-iritating, soap for the healthy skin and the antibacteria’s nature toward the S. aureus ATCC 25923. The method that was used to predict the optimum formula was a factorial design application with two factors which were the VCO-betaine and the two levels high level-low level. The optimation that was done to the physical properties was the solid state, the foam height, and the pH. The soap‘s optimum formula was done from antibacteria test and iritation test. The soap’s optimation result from the factorial design was the VCO (7,5 gram) and betaine (0,98 gram) with the solid state (1,24 kg), the foam height (8,71 cm) and the pH (866). The One Sample T-test’s result from the optimum formula towards the three responds showed the significance > 0,05 so the similarity data is valid. The soap’s optimum formula has an average inhibit diameter as 19,2 mm and has an iritation index value as 0,4 which is relatively safe for the skin.
