Abstract
Malaria is a disease caused by the Plasmodium parasite which metabolizes in the liver. The emergence of parasites that are resistant to antimalarial drugs is a problem for malaria control. Breadfruit Leaf (Artocarpus altilis (Park) Fosberg.) with active substance saponin, polyphenols, hydrosianic acid, acetylcholine, tannin, riboflavin, phenol, potassium. These compounds are thought to be active as antimalarials and can be used as alternative antimalarial drugs. The purpose if this study is to find the effects etracted of suku leaves to inhibit increased percentage antimalaria in mice after being infected by Plasmodium berghei. Antimalarial activity in vitro, used candle jar method developed by Trager dan Jensen (1976) with modification. Experiment in vitro done for screening fraction extracted sukun leaves with many concentration. Next experiment antimalarial in vivo on fraction most active on in vitro. Observation of percentage parasitemia do on day-1, day-2, day-3, dan day-4 (tes Peter-The 4-day suppressive test of blood schizontocidal action) with on liver histophatology of mice infected Plasmodium beghei.Data in this experiment analyzed by One Way ANOVA followed by Tukey pos hoc test. The result of this research showed that water fraction have an antimalarial activity both in in vitro and in vivo. Water fraction extract etanol sukun leaves can inhibit 19,74; 25,23; 33,40; 40,637 and 65,17% the growthg parasitemia persentage with dose 1,25; 2,5; 5; 10 and 20 mg/kg BB. Liver necrosis show that, there sugnificant difference between group. Thus as conclusion shows a significant inhibition toward the damage of the liver necrosis cell’s structural view of the mice that infected with Plasmodium berghei. Key words: Plasmodium berghei, sukun leaves (Artocarpus altilis (Park) Fosberg.), antimalarial, liver histophatology
