Abstract

The pharmaceutical installation is part of the hospital that is responsible for carrying out drug management which includes the selection, planning and procurement, distribution and use of drugs. Preliminary observations found some problems of drug management in Rumah Sakit Paru Surabaya that may affect the availability of drugs. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of drug management in Rumah Sakit Paru Surabaya. The study used a descriptive method to evaluate drug management in IFRS Paru Surabaya. Primary data is obtained concurrently and secondary data is obtained retrospectively by looking and tracing documents in the previous year (2017) related to drug management in IFRS Paru Surabaya. This research was conducted by collecting qualitative data through interviews and quantitative data through observation of documents related to drug management in IFRS Paru Surabaya in 2017. Interviews were conducted to see the drug management process in Rumah Sakit Paru Surabaya. The results showed that the drug management process in Rumah Sakit Paru Surabaya still needed to be improved in the planning and procurement stages, namely the allocation of funds for the procurement of medicines, procurement of medicines must be carried out by the Hospital Pharmacy Installation, and frequency of procurement of each drug item; the distribution stage, namely the low ITOR value, the number of expired drugs, not recording dead stock, and recording the stock in the RS SIM; the stage of use, which is still high drug items per prescription, doctor's compliance with the hospital formulary, not prescribed prescriptions with generic names, antibiotics, injections, and recording the number of drug items that can be submitted.
