Abstract

Beluntas leaf (Pluchea indica Less.) contains flavonoids which are efficacious as antioxidants. Peel-off gel mask is one type of face mask that has advantages in its use, which is easily lifted or released like an elastic membrane. The aim of this study was to determine the variation of gelatin and HPMC variations on the physical properties of the beluntas leaves extract mask which has antioxidant activity. Antioxidant test was carried out by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrihidrazil) method. Beluntas leaves extracted by maceration method using methanol solvent. The IC50 value of beluntas leaves extract was 67.5 ppm. The extract obtained then made a gel mask preparation with a percentage of 10% and variations in gelatin concentration: HPMC of (7.5: 0) for F1, (5: 2,5) for F2, (3.75: 3.75) for F3 , (2.5: 5) for F4, (0: 7.5) for F5. Evaluation of physical properties, organoleptic agreement, homogenity, pH, viscosity, adhesion, dispersion, drying time. The data were analyzed statistically using kolmogorov-smirnov test followed by anova test. The results of the study indicate that formula that had better physical properties and stability than other formulas were formula 2 with a base variation of gelatin:HPMC (5:2,5) and the best formula that has antioxidant activity of peel-off gel mask was formula 2.
