Abstract
Krokot (Portulaca oleracea L.) is a plant that has a hemostatic effect. Hemostatic is a mechanism to stop and prevent the occurrence of bleeding. This study aims to determine the hemostatic activity and the most optimal dose of ethanolic extract of purslane herbs. This study used 3 parameters are bleeding time, blood clotting time, and platelet count. This study used 25 male white mice divided into 5 groups: negative control (CMC Na), positive control (Tranexamic Acid 65 mg/kg bw), ethanolic extract of purslane herbs at the dose 250 mg, 500 mg, and 1000 mg/kg bw. Induction used heparin at the dose of 0.5 ml/ kg bw subcutaneously for 5 days. All data were tested with Shapiro-Wilk to know the normality of data, then analyzed by One Way ANOVA test and continued by Tukey HSD test. The results showed that administration of ethanolic extract of purslane herbs can shorten the time of bleeding, accelerate the time of blood coagulation, and increase the number of platelets in heparin-induced male white mice. The effective dose of ethanolic extract of purslane herbs that can accelerate bleeding time and blood clotting time, and increase platelets count is at the dose of 250 mg/kg bw.
