Abstract
The use of tetrahidrozoline HCl eye preparations in the community is very high because this drug is a over-the-counter drug at the Pharmacy. The temperature and use of eye drops that are not in accordance with the recommendations can reduce the level of the active substance and can cause the sterility of the drug to be contaminated by microbes. This study aims to determine the sterility of eye drops that are used repeatedly at certain times and temperatures Sterility tests were carried out on five types of eye drops, namely eye drops A, B, C, D and E taken by selecting preparations that did not expire after using two drops of each preparation every day for 35 days by sterility testing for each week. . Sterility test was carried out by direct inoculation of 1 mL into BHI (Brain Heart Infusion) media, SGA (Saboraud Glucose Agar), thyoglicolat Based on the results of the sterility test showed that the eye drop preparation in the fifth week of sample C showed a positive result of bacterial contamination at room temperature and negative at cold temperatures. Samples of eye drops A, B, D and E after repeated use for 35 days remained sterile Keywords: Eye drops, tetrahidrozoline HCl, fertility test, sterility test
