Abstract
Hypertension is a degenerative disease characterized by an increase in blood pressure. Green grass jelly leaves contain flavonoid compounds, saponins, tannin and alkaloids that can lower blood pressure in the body. The purpose of this study was to determine and prove the activity of the water fraction of green grass jelly leaves (cyclea barbata Miers) in reducing blood pressure in rats. Extraction is carried out using the maceration method then continued with fractionation. This study were 6 treatment groups including the CMC group 0,5%, comparative drug group atenolol 4,5 mg/kgbb, the effective dose extract group 120 mg/kgbb, and 3 groups of water fraction dose 9,8 mg/kgbb, 19,5 mg/kgbb and 39 mg/kgbb. Test animals were treated for 30 days and induced adrenaline on day 30, blood pressure measurement was done 3 times before treatment (T0) 5 minutes after induced adrenaline (T1) and 10 minutes after induced adrenaline (T2). The results of this study showed that the fraction of green leaves of green jelly leaves (Cyclea barbata Miers) has an activity in lowering blood pressure in male white wistar rats. The most effective dose in lowering blood pressure is a dose of 39 mg/kgbb. Keywords: Antihypentensive, green grass jelly (Cyclea barbata Miers), Tail cuff
