Abstract

Green graa jelly leaves (Cyclea barbata Miers.) are known to contain flavonoids, alkaloids and polyphenols that play a role in lowering blood pressure. The purpose of this study to determine ethyl acetate fraction of green grass jelly leaves has antihypertensive activity in male Wistar rats induced adrenaline and to determine the effective dose of ethyl acetate fraction of green jelly leaves. As many as 24 mice were divided into 6 treatment groups; sick control group (0.5% CMC), comparison drug group (atenolol), effective extract group (120 mg/kg BW), and three groups ethyl acetate fraction (dose 2,4 mg/kg BW, 4,8 mg/kg BW, and 9,6 mg/kg BW). Test animals were treated for 30 days and induced by adrenaline on day 30, blood pressure measurements were carried out 3 times, first blood pressure (T0), blood pressure 5 minutes after adrenaline induction (T1), and blood pressure 10 minutes after adrenaline induced (T2). The results of research is green grass jelly leaves ethyl acetate fraction had antihypertensive activity in adrenaline-induced male wistar rats. The effective dose of green grass jelly leaves ethyl acetate fraction is a dose of 9.6 mg /kg BW in adrenaline induced male wistar rats.
