Abstract

Pneumonia is one of the respiratory tract infections caused by bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections that are still common in Indonesia. Period prevalence of pneumonia in all ages in Indonesia has increased in 2017. Pneumonia is also the leading infectious disease in adults. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of treatment in pneumonia patients treated at Karanganyar Hospital in 2017 - 2018 in terms of the parameters of the patient's treatment profile and improvement in body temperature and respiratory rate before and after treatment. This study was an observational cross-sectional method, retrospective data collection on medical records of patients. The sampling technique used in this study is the total sampling technique. The study sample was 48 patients. The data obtained were analyzed statistically with a confidence level of 95%, using paired t-test then followed by Wilcoxon test. The result showed characteristics of pneumonia patients were based on gender, age, length of stay, condition of patient return and complications of the disease. Treatment of pneumonia consists of the main treatment, namely antibiotic therapy and additional treatment, namely symptomatic therapy. Pneumonia effectiveness theatment showed that there were significant differences between the values of body temperature and respiratory rate before and after therapy (p <0.05 Keywords : Pneumonia, Effectiveness of treatment, body temperature, respiratory rate
