Abstract

Ischemic strokeis caused by a blockage that triggers reduced blood flow to the brain. The number of stroke patients ranks first in Indonesia, incidence of ischemic stroke was 87% of total disease. Most strokepatients have complications including hypertension, diabetes mellitus. The emergence of complications causes patients to take other drugs. The existence of polypharmacy has the potential for Drug Related Problems (DRPs). This study aims to discover and identify the potential for DRPs on ischemic stroke inpatients. This study were non-experimental descriptive with a retrospective method. The study sample was an ischemic stroke patients who were hospitalized and fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data in descriptive analysis were displayed in tables and percentages. Results of this studywere 40 inpatients fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria consisting of 23 female patients (57.5%) and 17 male patients (42.5%).13 stroke inpatients experienced the incidence of DRPs includingover doses andlow doses (0%), drugs without indication (0%), 2 stroke inpatients experienced no drug indication (15%) and 11 stroke inpatients experienced drug interactions (85%).
